Symbolism

I see a girl standing in front of a window, but she doesn't see her reflection in front of her. Instead, her and a boy are reflected staring back at her. There is not much around her, because I wanted the focus to stay on the figures in front of her. The girl is dressed in dark colors, which contrasts against the bright colors that the couple in front of her are wearing. This is supposed to symbolize the death of a loved one. I believe my work was successful because it portrays the story I was trying to tell. It's easy to relate to because everyone has felt that sense of loss at least once in their life, and they've felt the nostalgia that this model feels.

Aberrance

I see a girls face plastered with flower petals in the replacement of make-up. The lighting causes a slight glow on her face to create a feel of radiance. I chose light colored petals in order to soften the look and make it look natural. Since aberrance means a departure from the ordinary, I wanted to do a fashion shot but with nature used as make-up. While I was editing this photo, I softened her entire face and sharpened her eyes and eyebrows, because I wanted her skin to look somewhat goddess-like. I believe I was successful in taking this photo because it really is unusual, and that was the point of taking the aberrance shot.

Head Replacement

In this picture, I see a body with a flower floating on top as a head. The color of it pops out because the colors behind it are plain and simple, so it doesn't distract from the object in front of her face. The entire picture it lighted brightly, but everything behind the flower is out of focus because it was too close to the camera to focus everything. So I decided since the flower was the center of attention, it should be the main focus of the entire picture. I believe my work was successful because it really does look as if the flower is the model's head, and I accomplished this without using photoshop; the only thing I photoshopped in this picture was the shadow that was directly behind her. I wanted the background to be bright, yet simple, so it wouldn't distract from the flower.
